My First Post

Filed under: Observation Journal — Ed @ 10:07 pm

I believe it is the long honored tradition to start out one’s blog with a post entitled, “My First Post.” Here is mine.

Last night I tried to get in a bit of viewing, but there were really too many clouds. the only night recently that was decent, I went to a baseball game which my team lost. The stars looked great, but I didn’t think to bring my telescope… Last night, I basically piddled around looking at Jupiter and the Moon while waiting for clouds overhead to clear so I could perhaps get a view of comet LINEAR. Alas, no luck. Just loads of clouds. Maybe tonight, but it’s cloudy now…

Anyway, since I’m sure someone would ask otherwise, what I’m using right now is a 500x114mm Tasco Galaxsee telescope with a new set of Plossl eyepieces. There’s more detail about my equipment in the About section. I know about Tasco’s reputation, but this ‘scope has worked really well for me thus far and I’m having a great time with it. I’ve also purchased a mount to be able to take photos using the Nikon D50 I have available and am hoping to get that going soon. Once I have that, I hope to be able to start putting up photos.
