The sun peeked through the clouds just a bit, but it looks like it will be a very cloudy night tonight. That’s okay – I’ve got a Barnard Astronomical Society meeting tonight.

Hey, did you take this with your D50? It looks like you’re going through exactly the same problem as I am at the moment – electrostatic dust on the CCD sensor.

Yeah – I’d been noticing that. I was going to blow/brush it off with my little camera brush/blower thingy.

Have you done that before? The reason I ask is that I haven’t cleaned my CCD sensor before so I’m wondering how sensitive it is to cleaning. I’ve heard different answers from different folks, especially on Astromart.

I haven’t, but I’ve heard several recommendations that say that using a blower brush should be the best bet. Several have said not to use canned air. I’m going to try it tonight. I’ll let you know how it goes.
