I started this evening capturing the Moon. It was really nice with an orangish glow through the eyepiece. While imaging the Moon, a plan seemed to almost hover underneath it until finally heading more northward. I took this shot of it:

Finally, I’m trying something new tonight. I’ve joined the Astronomy Pirates! By wearing an eyepatch (and being willing to look totally dorky) I can keep one eye dark adapted while I use the laptop, which normally really screws with night vision. Here’s my wonderful eyepatch:
I’ll give a report later (probably tomorrow) on how well it worked. It’s really hot out here tonight – somewhere north of 80°. I hope it cools down soon…
